11 PLUS (11+) FOR PARENTS – WIRRAL SELECTIVE SCHOOLS

There are 3 boys selective schools and 3 girls selective schools in Wirral. There are no mixed sex selective schools in Wirral. All schools follow the GL Assessment (University of Edinburgh) apart from St Anselm’s College who write their own 11 plus selection test.

Calday Grange Grammar School allocates 200 places in Year 7.

The 11 plus exams for Wirral Grammar Schools is in the month of September.

WHEN DO THE 11 PLUS (11+) RESULTS COME OUT FOR WIRRAL GRAMMAR SCHOOLS?

The results for Wirral Grammar Schools come out in October. This is when parents are most likely to find out if their child has secured a Selective School place.

WHAT IS WIRRAL LIKE?

Wirral is part of the Liverpool City Region in the North West of England. It is bounded by Wales and the rivers Dee, Mersey and the Irish Sea. It contains a mixture of affluent and deprived areas. Its name means ‘myrtle corner’ as it is believed that it was once overgrown with bog myrtle. It offers over 50 miles of rural cycling and walking routes as well as beaches. It has 14 golf courses to choose from and was host to the only Michelin Starred Restaurant in Merseyside until it closed in 2018.
