Sale Grammar has a mixed intake and allocates 180 grammar school places in Year 7. The school also follows the CEM (University of Durham) 11 plus selection test.

WHAT IS SALE LIKE?

Sale is on the bank of the River Mersey. It used to be part of Cheshire, but is now part of Trafford, Greater Manchester. It has a lot of history over the Stone Age, Roman and Anglo-Saxon period with evidence found locally. A flint arrowhead found in Sale shows the presence of pre-humans on the area. It is a commuter town for Manchester with an influx of middle-class from when the railways arrived in 1849. It is close to the M60 and the Manchester Metrolink. Many of its local road and field names are from the Anglo-Saxon period. It was also mentioned in the Domeday Book of 1086.
