WHAT IS PETERBOROUGH LIKE?
Peterborough is a city in Cambridgeshire that lies on the River Nene. It has a population of just under 200,000 people. Peterborough is very flat and some of its places lie beneath sea level. There is evidence of occupation before the Bronze Age and also Roman occupation. Peterborough Cathedral was established as monastery during the Anglo-Saxon period. It is noted for its brick manufacture and grew as a place once the railways arrived during the 19th century. Industrial employment has fallen rapidly but there has been a £1 billion injection for regeneration of Peterborough’s city centre and surrounding areas.
