Lancaster Royal Grammar School is a single-sex boys only grammar school and Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School is a single-sex girls only grammar school.
Lancaster Royal Grammar School allocates 150 (+24 boarding) places in Year 7 and Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School allocates 140 places in Year 7.
Both the Lancaster Royal Grammar School and Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School follow the GL Assessment (University of Edinburgh) 11 plus selection test.

Lancaster is a town which sits on the River Lune in Lancashire. It has a population of just under 55,000 people. Lancaster has a rich history with the House of Lancaster who were a part of the English Royal Family. Furthermore, it is an ancient settlement with it’s famous Castle and Church. It a town that was recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086. Lancaster retains a lot of fine Georgian architecture.
