There are 2 mixed selective schools, 6 boys selective schools and 6 girls selective schools in Essex. One school follow the GL Assessment (University of Edinburgh) 11 plus selection test, three schools follow for the CEM (University of Durham) 11 plus selection test and 10 schools follow the CSSE (Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex) 11 plus selection test.

WHEN IS THE 11 PLUS (11+) TEST FOR ESSEX GRAMMAR SCHOOLS?

The 11 plus exams for Essex Grammar Schools is in the month of September.

WHEN DO THE 11 PLUS (11+) RESULTS COME OUT FOR ESSEX GRAMMAR SCHOOLS?

The results for Essex Selective Schools come out in October. This is when parents are most likely to find out if their child has secured a Selective School place.

WHEN DO PARENTS KNOW FOR SURE IF THEIR CHILD HAS A SELECTIVE SCHOOL PLACE?

Allocations of school places will be officially declared in March.

WHAT IS ESSEX LIKE?

Essex is one of the Home Counties that sits on the north-east of London. It has a population of over 1.8 million people. The only city in the county is Chelmsford and it is where London Stansted Airport and Lakeside Shopping Centre is based. It has more than 14000 buildings in the county that are listed in status and approximately 1000 of which are of Grade 1 and Grade 2 importance.
