Alcester has a mixed intake and allocates 150 grammar school places in Year 7. The school also follows the CEM (University of Durham) 11 plus selection test.

WHAT IS ALCESTER LIKE?

Alcester is a Roman market town near the Rivers Alne and Arrow in Warwickshire. The population was just below 6300 after the last census in 2011. The name was derived from the River Alne and ‘cester’ which meant a Roman town. Alcester is known for its stately homes and is part of the 100 mile long Heart of England long distance walking route. They hold an annual street market with competitions for best stall and fancy dress at the Court Leef. The town has four churches and a Kingdom Hall for Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The area follows a two phase educational system from Primary to Secondary. There are three Secondary schools in the area with Alcester Grammar School being the selective school. Alcester Grammar also has a sixth form taking just under 300 students a year.
